Artigo Científico Acesso aberto Avaliação do uso de dispositivos vibratórios, comparado à anestesia tópica, na percepção da dor em pacientes submetidos à aplicação de toxina botulínica na face(2018) Abdo, Ivana Silveira; Aguiar, Lara Silveira Abdo; Simi, Pablo RodrigoIntroduction: In the last decades, in order to minimize patient suffering, numerous techniques, both anesthetic and related to procedure execution, have been developed or improved. The use of vibratory devices has shown satisfactory results and has been considered useful in reducing pain in patients submitted to the application of botulinum toxin type A for aesthetic purposes. Objective: To assess the influence of the use of vibratory devices, compared to topical anesthesia, on the perception of pain in patients submitted to the application of botulinum toxin. Methods: Patients received vibratory anesthesia in one hemiface and topical anesthesia in the contralateral hemiface 30 minutes prior to the procedure. Pain, adverse effects and duration of procedure were assessed. Results: One hundred and thirty-nine patients between 24 and 74 years old were included in the trial. There was statistically significant difference favoring the side submitted to the use of vibratory devices in all topographies. The duration of the procedure was extended due to the application of topical anesthesia. Conclusions: In this trial, the use of vibratory devices was effective and safe and superior to topical anesthesia in decreasing pain during the application of botulinum toxin.
