Artigo Científico Acesso embargado Tendência temporal da letalidade por acidente vascular encefálico em Santa Catarina de 2008 a 2018(2019) Anselmo, Eduardo LuchiStroke is a morbidity that has a relationship between events and the persistence of risk factors throughout the life of the individual. When not combated in prophylactic ways, it becomes one of the largest contributors to disability and death in the entire population. Deaths due to hospitalizations due to stroke allow us to stipulate the lethality rate, which makes it possible to evaluate the effectiveness of health services in relation to the disease. There is a gap in the literature on the subject, however, the available data suggest an overall reduction in hospital mortality from stroke. Ecological study of temporal trend using data from the population aged 20 years or older who died after hospitalization for stroke in the state of Santa Catarina, based on data collected from SIH-SUS. For the analysis of temporal trends, the simple linear regression method will be used for the overall stratified lethality rates according to sex, age group by gender and health macroregion. Considering as significant p <0.05. During the study period, there was a decreasing trend in overall case fatality rates in Santa Catarina (p <0.001). The same behavior was observed in both sexes (p = 0.001), and their age groups (p≤0.027) except for male individuals between 20-34 years and all above 75 years (p> 0.05). In the Macroregions of the State, Vale do Itajaí, North-Northeast and Greater Florianópolis there is a decreasing trend in stroke fatality rates and the region of Foz do Itajaí showed the only growth present in the study. The results of this study reflect the trend of reducing stroke mortality in Santa Catarina in the general population and in both sexes between 2008 and 2018.Artigo Científico Acesso embargado Tendência temporal da morbimortalidade por Acidente Vascular Encefálico em Santa Catarina, no período de 2008 a 2017(2020) Alfaro, YagoIntroduction: The Cerebrovascular Accident is, in general, a serious condition, and it is associated with great morbimortality. Objective: To analyze the temporal trend of morbimortality due to Encephalic Vascular Accident in Santa Catarina, in the period from 2008 to 2017. Method: An observational study of an ecological type, using the Hospital Information System (SIH) and the Mortality System (SIM) databases of the Unified Health System as a source. All 71,697 cases of hospitalization were selected, as well as the 18,491 total deaths by codes I60-I64 of the International Classification of Diseases ICD-10, distributed according to gender, age group and region of residence, in the survey period. The absolute frequencies of hospital admissions and deaths were transformed into risk rates (x100,000), using population data provided by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics. The analysis of time-event relationships was performed using the simple linear regression method. Results: In the studied period, Santa Catarina showed a strong and significant growth trend in the rates of hospitalization for cerebrovascular accident, and reduction of mortality rates for the same cause. The population between 40-59 years presented the highest tendency of increase in the hospitalization rate (Pearson: 0.806). Foz and Alto Vale do Itajaí showed a significant reduction in the risk of death, as well as hospitalization. Conclusion: The results suggest that there was an increase in the incidence of CVA, with repercussions on younger age groups, but the mortality trend in the same period was for reduction in the state.
