Introduction: Stroke is one of the common causes of death and functional disability. Considering that one of the main goals for patient rehabilitation is functional independence, gait training becomes a primary approach to the treatment plan for these individuals. Objective: To observe the effects of gait training in post-stroke individuals through performance on the Berg Balance Scale and the Timed Up and Go tests and the 10-meter Gait Speed Test. Methods: A systematic literature review was performed through consultations to search indexers in the electronic databases LILACS, MEDLINE, SciELO, Portal CAPES, PubMed and BIREME, from May 2020 to April 2021. Twenty-seven studies were selected, of these, ten original articles were validated. Conclusion: The present study showed that the therapeutic approaches observed in the literature provided satisfactory results in terms of improving balance and gait speed in post-stroke individuals, as well as proving that the BSE, TUG and TV10M assessment methods are important for definition, application and analysis of the results obtained.
