It is known that concussion is a major health issue due to the high rate of trauma. With the increase in the incidence of brain injuries it is necessary to investigate the possible effects that this injury causes after the event in adult athletes. The present study is a literature review that seeks to investigate in current literature the deleterious effects on balance and gait after cerebral concussion resulting from sports. Searches were performed in the following electronic databases: PubMed, Scielo, EBSCO, PeDro and Google Scholar. For data search, the following descriptors were used: concussion, physiotherapy and sport, and the studies were included according to inclusion and exclusion criteria. All articles included had the same results in which concussion interferes in the return to sport, where it was concluded that athletes with a history of concussion performed the proposed tasks and tests slower, which reflects on vestibular disorders, balance and gait, consequently.
