This dissertation has as its theme the affective memory in times of media convergence. It has as the object of analysis the return's project of the Grupo Globo old soap operas through the Globoplay streaming service, which belong to Grupo Globo. The objective of this master’s thesis aimed to analyze the project of return of the Grupo Globo old soap operas in face of the media convergence and, above all, how the communication strategies adopted in the publicization of these television titles mobilize the consumption through the affective memory. The study starts from the argument which these old soap operas mobilize and engage the audience given the affective value attributed by the communities of viewers. The central question is: how does affective memory mobilize the consumption and audience of audiovisual products on the Globoplay platform in the face of this convergence's culture? In this light, the theoretical framework of this investigation focus on two main themes: memory (collective memory, affective memory) and television (television social bond, hyper-television, and media convergence). The multi-methodological effort of this study comprised different objects and moments concerning the project of resuming old titles: a) Analysis of the products available in the Globoplay catalog; b) Analysis of the editorial strategies deployed in Instagram posts; c) Analysis of the level of engagement of users in the social network; and d) Analysis of viewer’s comments and possible feelings. In order to reach the objectives and the questions presented in this dissertation, the study problematizes the technological transformations that affect television. Above all, the socializing function of television in the reconstitution of collective memory in the era of media convergence. In face of this context, we discuss important aspects that permeate the current moment of television, the return of Grupo Globo's soap operas in the context of hypertelevision. The study mainly emphasizes the activation of the viewer's affective memory. As a final note, the study concludes that the project performs multiple functions of an archival, marketing, and affective nature, which they alternate. The old soap operas mobilize consumption and engage users in internet conversation spaces, evoking affective memories, which are a positive and attractive potential for the platform.
