Resumo
The contribution of this study is given in the desire and its representations in the female characters of the works of Júlia Lopes de Almeida, both in his writing and in the revelation of his desires in the midst of the social and cultural context of the late nineteenth and early twentieth century. Literature registers feelings in the form of narratives, transferring, for future generations, fictional riches. Thus, based on the assumption that the literary work allows to know and evaluate the socio-historical and cultural context of a society, not distancing itself from the personality of the author in front of its context, the hypothesis is that the female characters, in the works of Julia Lopes de Almeida, represent different forms of desire. In order to elucidate, to reiterate this hypothesis, the objective of this study is to analyze how and if the representation of desire happens in the literary genres selected, possible similarities and distances, through the female characters as representations of the women of the time placed on the scene. It is important to study the work of this author, inasmuch as her discourse aroused multiple female voices and her characters remain as singular as at the time of her creation. The feminine desires it represented resonate in the twentieth century and their representations provoke the imaginary, absence, presence and identity of women who seek to emphasize their importance in interpersonal relations as well as an integral part of the society in which they live. From the cast of the writer's works were selected four novels, a short story and a play. First, the novels A falência, 1901; A intrusa, 1908; Cruel Amor, of 1911; e O funil do diabo, 2015. Also, the tale entitled O último capítulo, of 1916; and finally, the play called Quem não perdoa, in 1917. In this research, the characters are evaluated from the context, having as a theoretical contribution Zahidé L. Muzart, Peggy Sharpe, Michelle Perrot, Mary Del Priore, Friedrich Engels, among others. For the theory and analysis of the structure of literary narrative, the macroanalysis and microanalysis classifications of Massaud Moisés and Terry Eagleton are the basis. Foundations on desire and its representations are drawn from historians and philosophers such as Zygmunt Bauman, Roland Barthes, Georges Bataille, Gaston Bachelard, Adauto Novaes, Elisabeth Badinter, among others. The methodological course that was sought inscribes this research in the scope of Comparative Literature, aiming to analyze the works of the nineteenth - century Júlia Lopes de Almeida. This research is bibliographic and qualitative description. The methodological technique used in this analysis is content.
