The basic question for the development of the study was: Does the present study enable us to verify the importance of the feminicide law for the protection of women? The general objective of this work was to analyze the feminicide law, while the specific objectives were to verify the violence against women, together with its history, as well as to analyze the Maria da Penha law in the protection of women; examine the crime of femicide that stands out for the death of a woman for the reason of the condition of female sex. The present civil work finds that violence against women has been going on for centuries. In this sense, the present study will eliminate that there has been progress in society and in legislation in terms of gender, conquered through centuries of struggle, allowing greater protection for women and guarantee of their rightsO presente trabalho foi conduzido por meio de pesquisa bibliográfica e documental, com foco no tema feminicídio e a violência doméstica contra a mulher. O questionamento base para o desenvolvimento do estudo foi: Qual a importância da lei de feminicídio para o amparo às mulheres? O objetivo geral deste trabalho foi analisar a lei de feminicídio, que desmembrando-se em objetivos específicos tivemos, visou a verificar a violência contra as mulheres; conjuntamente como o seu histórico, e ainda, analisar a Lei Maria da Penha na proteção da mulher, e por fim, examinar o crime de feminicídio que se caracteriza pela morte de uma mulher pela razão da condição de pertencer ao sexo feminino. O presente trabalho permitiu constatar que a violência contra a mulher ocorre há séculos.
