Considering the purpose of this study: To understand the leadership on people which the airline pilot, exercises beyond the cockpit, it was hence decided to conduct a field study with a qualitative approach. As an instrument of data collection, a questionnaire was used with multiple choice questions. The research was carried out at the International Airport of São Paulo / Guarulhos International Airport - Governador André Franco Montoro. This questionnaire was given to 04 copilots, 04 flight attendants, 04 aircraft mechanics and 04 customer service agents, in a simple and random selection, most certainly because these are the individuals who are in direct contact with the captain and form the captain´s team. It was thus concluded that the Airline Transport Pilot is the leader responsible for his team and that the main characteristics regarding the personality of this leader are: clear communication, positive and pleasant energy, have defined attitudes, are optimistic, enthusiastic, have self-confidence, are democratic in thinking, have legitimate power and reliability, which sets the style of this leadership on his team as very democratic.Resumo: Diante do cenário atual da aviação comercial, essa pesquisa procurou delimitar-se respondendo à seguinte pergunta: o piloto de linha aérea exerce liderança de pessoas além da cabine de comando, e qual é o estilo dessa liderança? Considerando o objetivo desse estudo: compreender a liderança de pessoas que o piloto de linha aérea exerce além da cabine de comando, optou-se por realizar uma pesquisa de campo com abordagem qualitativa. Como instrumento de coleta de dados, utilizou-se um questionário com perguntas de múltipla escolha. A pesquisa foi realizada no Aeroporto Internacional de Aeroporto Internacional de São Paulo/Guarulhos – Governador André Franco Montoro. A seleção da população, 04 copilotos, 04 comissários de bordo, 04 mecânicos e 04 agentes de solo, foi aleatória simples, pois estes são os indivíduos que estão em contato direto com o comandante e integram sua equipe. Conclui-se que o Piloto de Linha Aérea é o líder responsável por sua equipe e que as principais características referentes à personalidade desse líder são: comunicação, energia positiva, são agradáveis, tem atitude, são otimistas, positivos e entusiastas, possuem autoconfiança, democráticos, tem vivacidade e entusiasmo, poder legítimo e confiabilidade, o que configura o estilo desse líder em democrático.28 f.pt-BRAttribution-ShareAlike 3.0 BrazilLiderançaAviação comercialPiloto de linha aéreaArtigo Científico
