Caracteriza-se como uma pesquisa exploratória e explicativa com procedimento bibliográfico e tem como natureza a abordagem qualitativa. Diversos materiais foram analisados, incluindo artigos, livros e publicações. Além disso, foram apresentados dados de órgãos reguladores de aviação civil, tais como: a FAA (Federal Aviation Administration), a ANAC (Agência Nacional de Aviação Civil), o CENIPA (Centro de Investigação e Prevenção de Acidentes Aeronáuticos), o NTSB (National Transportation Safety Board) e a OACI (Organização da Aviação Civil Internacional) em prol da obtenção de dados mais confiáveis possíveis. Ao finalizar a pesquisa, conclui-se que o processo de tomada de decisão é parte fundamental da segurança operacional. Com isso, faz-se necessário o incessante aprofundamento e estudo dessa área, seja através da implementação de ferramentas como forma da identificação, avaliação e mitigação de riscos, como também através da análise do comportamento humano e das relações interpessoais. Tudo isso em prol daquilo que indubitavelmente é o maior objetivo de qualquer operação aérea: a segurança de voo.The main goal of this research is to identify the importance of the decision-making process regarding the operational safety, by analyzing the main contributing factors that affect this process in relation to operational flight safety, taking into account methods of consolidated studies looking for the reduction of human error. It is an exploratory and explanatory research with a bibliographic procedure using the qualitative approach. Several documents were analyzed, including: articles, books and publications. In addition, data from civil aviation regulatory agencies were observed , such as the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration), ANAC (National Civil Aviation Agency), CENIPA (Center for Investigation and Prevention of Aeronautical Accidents), the NTSB (National Transportation Safety Board) and the ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization) in order to obtain reliability and Validity of Measurement. By the end of this resarch, it is concluded that the decision-making process is a fundamental part of the operational safety. Therefore, it is necessary to deeply study and understand this area. Either through the implementation of tools as a way of identifying, assessing and mitigating risks or even through the analysis of human behavior and interpersonal relationships.
