In 2008, this policy contributed to the insertion of the Physical Education Professional (PEP) in the collective health work field, through the Family Health Support Center (FHSC) teams, in which they were able to start working within the Strategy Family Health (SFH). The objective of this study was to verify if there is the insertion of the PEP in the FHSC of the municipality of Tubarão-SC. A qualitative and quantitative descriptive study was carried out in the health units of the city of Tubarão. Were interviewed the 22 responsible of health units and the inserted PEP. The interview script addressed the situation of insertion of the PEP and how to establish its work in the health units. The data were analyzed through content analysis. The results showed the low insertion of PEP in the FHSC of Tubarão, but pointed out the importance of this professional as a stimulus to improve the quality of life and well-being of the population served by primary health care, according to those responsible for the units. It is concluded that despite the low insertion of the PEP, its participation in the FHSC multiprofessional team can bring improvements to the communities included in the SFH.A Política Nacional de Promoção da Saúde (PNPS), de 2006, inclui as práticas corporais e atividade física como área de promoção da saúde. Tal política contribuiu, em 2008, para a inserção do Profissional de Educação Física (PEF) no campo de trabalho na saúde coletiva, através das equipes do Núcleo de Apoio à Saúde da Família (NASF), no qual puderam começar a atuar dentro da Estratégia Saúde da Família (ESF). O objetivo deste estudo foi verificar se existe a inserção do PEF no NASF do município de Tubarão-SC. Foi realizado um estudo quali-quantitativo descritivo nas unidades de saúde do município de Tubarão. Foram entrevistados os 22 responsáveis das unidades de saúde e o PEF inserido. O roteiro de entrevista abordou a situação da inserção do PEF e como se estabelece seu trabalho nas unidades de saúde. Os dados obtidos foram analisados através de análise de conteúdo. Os resultados mostraram a baixa inserção do PEF no NASF de Tubarão, mas apontou a importância deste profissional como estímulo para melhorar a qualidade de vida e bem-estar da população atendida pela atenção primária em saúde, segundo os responsáveis pelas unidades.
