O objetivo do estudo mediante revisão de literatura foi descrever, os avanços farmacológicos e esquemas terapêuticos antirretrovirais. Foi realizado o estudo de revisão de literatura sobre os aspectos fisiológicos e imunopatológicos do HIV das principais bases de dados - Pubmed; Scientific & Caribean electronic Library Online (SciELO). Atualmente, existem 21 medicamentos, em 37 apresentações farmacêuticas padronizados pelo SUS.O conhecimento sobre a terapêutica se trata de um aspecto que pode ajudar na adesão da terapia ao paciente.Around 1981 in the USA, the first cases of acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) in male homosexuals were reported. The aim of the study through a literature review was to describe the pharmacological advances and antiretroviral therapeutic regimens. A literature review study was carried out on the physiological and immunopathological aspects of HIV from the main databases - Pubmed; Scientific & Caribean electronic Library Online (SciELO). Currently, there are 21 drugs, in 37 pharmaceutical presentations standardized by SUS.
