Estilos parentais são o conjunto de atitudes e práticas dos pais em relação aos filhos que caracteriza a natureza da interação entre eles e que carregam consigo fatores de risco ou proteção que podem ser determinantes para a funcionalidade do indivíduo. Verificou-se a partir de revisões bibliográficas que os estilos parentais podem influenciar de forma significativa no desenvolvimento escolar da criança e do adolescente. Pais e/ou responsáveis que demonstram afeto, envolvimento, participação e impõem limites tendem a estabelecer fatores de proteção que influenciam positivamente no desenvolvimento escolar da criança e/ou adolescente.The present study aimed to present a possible correlation between parental styles and their influence on the educational skills of children and adolescents, in the sociocultural and academic context. Parenting styles are the set of attitudes and practices of parents in relation to their children that characterize the nature of the interaction between them and that carry risk or protective factors that can be decisive for the individual's functionality. It was verified from literature reviews that parental styles can significantly influence the academic development of children and adolescents.
