Para tanto, foram analisadas as relações de gênero e a representação do feminino no Alto Sertão baiano; procedeu-se ao levantamento do número de homicídios cometidos em 2014 e dos júris, a eles correspondentes, que foram realizados; e, por fim, com base em tais dados, foi avaliada a eficácia da lei penal no que se refere à proteção à mulher. Tal percurso permitiu concluir que a inefetividade da lei penal na proteção à mulher vincula-se à ausência de prestação jurisdicional e à violência justificada pela culpabilização da vítima, resultando na impunidade do agressor.The work, which is inserted in law and literature studies, aims to investigate the influence of Leocadia's narrative, which is a founding myth of the city of Guanambi, in the construction of a social imaginary that validates violence against women and results in the inefficacy of the Brazilian criminal law. For that, the gender relations and the representation of the feminine in a place called Alto Sertão in Bahia were analyzed; also had been searched the number of homicides committed in 2014 and the corresponding juries, which were accomplished; and finally, based on this research, it was verified the effectiveness of the criminal law in protection of woman.
