The overall objective was to describe the grieving perception of parents who lost a child. The methodological plan characterizes the research as a field study, guided by a qualitative and objective approach method of a descriptive nature. The results showed that the interviewees need to talk about their feelings and emotions; sadness, shock and despair were emotions that they all manifested; most parents are resistant to talking about feelings related to pain; they express feelings of longing and emotions that still bring them and cause a lot of pain, sadness and anguish; most parents are looking for alternatives to divert the focus of grief; the breaking of affective bonds affected their lives, contributing to changes in the routine of their lives.O estudo examinou o luto pela perda de um filho na percepção do pai. O objetivo geral foi compreender como homens, pais, elaboram o processo de luto de seus filhos. O plano metodológico caracteriza a pesquisa como estudo de campo, orientado por método de abordagem qualitativo e objetivo de natureza descritiva.
