For the elaboration of the research, a qualitative, exploratory level approach was used, whose method is field research. The purpose of this work is to evaluate the conditions of road trafficability, to study the structural situation through non-destructive tests, to present the main defects and to describe methods for repairing them. In this case, it was found that the road is in a situation of high deterioration, which is due to the fact that it is located on a large sedimentary soft clay bank. Due to the fact that it is found on soft ground, with the great flow of vehicles as an aggravating factor, excessive deflections occur, and traction of the asphalt layer, resulting in several surface defects. As a possible solution for pavement stabilization, the use of geogrid in the asphalt layer was adopted, which, in turn, helps in the dissipation of the loads coming from the intense traffic in this important road of the municipality.O presente trabalho tem por objetivo avaliar funcionalmente, a partir dos elementos estruturais, a Avenida Pedro Zapelini, na cidade de Tubarão, sul de Santa Catarina, visando detectar defeitos e interferências no fluxo. Para elaboração da pesquisa utilizou-se de uma abordagem qualitativa, de nível exploratório, cujo o método é a pesquisa de campo. O trabalho tem por intenção avaliar as condições de trafegabilidade da via, estudar a situação estrutural através de ensaios não destrutivos, apresentar os principais defeitos e descrever métodos para repará-los. Neste caso, constatou-se que a via se encontra em situação de alto grau de deterioração, o que se deve pelo fato de a mesma estar situada sobre um grande banco de argila mole sedimentar. Por se encontrar sobre solo mole, ainda com o grande fluxo de veículos como agravante, ocorrem deflexões excessivas, e tração da capa asfáltica, acarretando em diversos defeitos de superfície.
