Tem por objetivo caracterizar a relação de vínculo afetivo do ser humano com seu animal de estimação, identificar os possíveis benefícios emocionais adquiridos e verificar possíveis fatores emocionais adoecedores nessa relação e compreender qual o papel social atribuído pelo tutor ao seu animal de estimação. Os entrevistados dessa pesquisa foram dez voluntários, tutores de no mínimo um animal de estimação. Para a execução da pesquisa foi aplicado uma entrevista estruturada, onde foi possível coletar características da relação dessas pessoas com seus animais de estimação, a influência que os animais exercem em suas vidas, os benefícios adquiridos nessa interação e os sentimentos envolvidos na relação. A idade dos participantes variou entre 26 e 73 anos, sendo um entrevistado do sexo masculino e as demais entrevistadas do sexo feminino. Analisando os resultados obtidos observou-se que todos os entrevistados trouxeram um vínculo com aspectos emocionais positivos na relação com seus animais, e um papel social atribuído ao animal de filho ou membro da família. Os aspectos negativos e/ou possivelmente adoecedores foram associados ao afastamento do animal e ao estado de saúde do animal.This article presents research into the interaction between human beings and their pets. Its aim is to characterize the affective bond between human beings and their pets, to identify the possible emotional benefits acquired and to verify possible emotional factors that make this relationship unhealthy, and to understand the social role attributed by the guardian to their pet. The respondents in this study were ten volunteers who owned at least one pet. To carry out the research, a structured interview was used to collect characteristics of the relationship between these people and their pets, the influence that animals have on their lives, the benefits gained from this interaction and the feelings involved in the relationship. The participants' ages ranged from 26 to 73, with one interviewee being male and the others female. An analysis of the results showed that all the interviewees had positive emotional aspects in their relationship with their animals, and a social role attributed to the animal as a child or family member.
