MÉTODOS: Estudo transversal observacional com base nos relatórios públicos do Sistema de Vigilância Alimentar e Nutricional. Os dados utilizados para análise foram: faixa-etária (0-5 anos, 5-<7 anos e 7-<10 anos) e indicadores antropométrico (peso/idade, altura/idade e IMC/idade) – dos anos de 2010 a 2020. RESULTADOS: No período de 2010 a 2020 foram registrados os dados do estado nutricional de 38.848 crianças, das quais 92,24% possuíam menos de 7 anos. Foi encontrada prevalência de 11,67% de peso por idade inadequado, sendo 9,23% peso elevado para a idade. Dentre as crianças avaliadas, 7,61% apresentam altura para idade inadequada. Foi encontrada prevalência de 38,16% de inadequação em IMC/I. A adequação dos índices antropométricos avaliados apresentaram, redução com o passar dos anos. P/I e IMC/I são os índices antropométricos que apresentaram maior inadequação e agravamento da situação nutricional em todas as faixas etárias. A maior inadequação está concentrada no excesso de peso. CONCLUSÃO: Verificou-se um elevado percentual de crianças com inadequação do estado nutricional e predominância de sobrepeso e obesidade nas diferentes faixas etárias.OBJECTIVE: Analyze the nutritional status of children from 0 to 10 years old who are beneficiaries of the Bolsa Família Program in the municipality of Canoas. It was found a prevalence of 11,67% of weight for inadequate age, with 9,23% of weight being high for age. Among the children evaluated, 7,61% have an inadequate height for age. A prevalence of 38,16% of inadequacy in BMI/age was found. The adequacy of the anthropometric indices evaluated showed a reduction over the years. Weight/age and BMI/age are the anthropometric indices that showed the greatest inadequacy and worsening of the nutritional situation in all age groups. The greatest inadequacy is concentrated in excess weight.
