This is an exploratory and qualitative field research. The type of sample chosen was non-probabilistic for accessibility, and 5 high-risk pregnant women were interviewed in a hospital in Tubarão city. It was used semi-structured interview for data collection. The results revealed that the mothers were aware of the clinical state of the babies, and most of them had their children hospitalized for the same reason, and they also suffered from the rupture of attachment.Esta pesquisa teve como objetivo conhecer as vivências das mães que têm o filho recém-nascido hospitalizado na UTI neonatal. Trata-se de uma pesquisa de campo com caráter exploratório e qualitativo. O tipo de amostra escolhido foi a não-probabilística por acessibilidade, sendo entrevistadas 5 gestantes de alto risco, internadas em um hospital no município de Tubarão. Como instrumento de coleta de dados, foi utilizada a entrevista semiestruturada.
