A total of 54 dogs were analyzed, being 27 Golden Retriever and 27 Shih Tzu dogs, separated at different ages and sex. The mean values of cutaneous pH of Golden Retriever were: Periocular (6.40); Headquarters (6.38); Perilabial (6.50); Perianal (6.57); Armpits (6.56); Groin (6.52); Abdomen (6.50); Inguinal (6.45); Flanks (6.32); Palm cushions (6,50); Plantar cushions (6,34). However dogs of the Shih Tzu breed, the mean values of pH in the regions were: Periocular (6,10); Headquarters (6,14); Perilabial (6.28); Perianal (6.32); Armpits (6.32); Groin (6.32); Abdomen (6.36); Inguinal (6.40); Flanks (6.38); Palm cushions (6.54); Plantar cushions (6,64). The comparison of the mean cutaneous pH value between sex (male and female) did not show a significant difference, but there were significant statistical differences (P <0.05) in the pH between ages in the pups group (up to 18 months of age), comparing (7+ years), in the regions: Groin, abdomen, inguinal, palmar and plantar cushions, however in the Shih Tzu breed there was difference between pups and adults only in the periocular region, already between pups and elderly was significant to difference in the regions of: armpits, groin, inguinal and flanks, (P <0.05). Finally, the data from the project revealed that the cutaneous pH of the two evaluated healthy races remains acidic, with a tendency to alkalinization with aging.Este estudo teve o objetivo de mensurar os valores normais de pH cutâneo de regiões anatômicas de cães saudáveis das raças Golden Retriever e ShihTzu. Foram analisados 54 cães no total, sendo 27 cães da raça Golden Retriever e 27 Shih Tzu, separados em diferentes idades e sexo. Os valores médios de pH cutâneo de Golden Retriever, foram: Periocular (6,40); Pavilhão auricular (6,38); Perilabial (6,50); Perianal (6,57); Axilas (6,56); Virilhas (6,52); Abdômen (6,50); Inguinal (6,45); Flancos (6,32); Coxins palmares (6,50); Coxins plantares (6,34). Entretanto cães da raça Shih Tzu, os valores médios de pH nas regiões foram: Periocular (6,10); Pavilhão auricular (6,14); Perilabial (6,28); Perianal (6,32); Axilas (6,32); Virilhas (6,32); Abdômen (6,36); Inguinal (6,40); Flancos (6,38); Coxins palmares (6,54); Coxins plantares (6,64). A comparação do valor médio de pH cutâneo entre sexo (macho e fêmea) não houve diferença significativa, porém houve diferenças estatística significativa (P<0,05) no pH entre idades, no grupo filhotes (até 18 meses de idade), comparando com idosos de Golden Retriever (7+ anos), nas regiões: Virilha, abdômen, inguinal, coxins palmares e coxins plantares, no entanto na raça Shih Tzu houve diferença entre filhotes e adultos apenas na região periocular, já entre filhotes e idosos foi significativa a diferença nas regiões de: axilas, virilhas, inguinal e flancos, (P<0,05).
