In order to improve this issue, some environmental certifications encourage sustainable buildings to use materials and construction technologies with suitable performance, through the use of renewable resources (solar radiation, winds, among others), which allows a reduction in consumption, mainly water and electricity, throughout the lifespan of the building. Based on a general study on the most used certifications, the certification which was most technically applicable in Brazilian civil construction was defined. In this way, the Procel Edifica label was chosen, as it is a national certification and has requirements in line with Brazilian reality in the field of construction. Based on the design of a multifamily residential building, the application of the energy label in a housing unit was studied. With the first constructive characteristics, the level B classification was obtained. After suggesting some slight changes, level A was achieved, improving the sustainability and thermal comfort of the housing unit.A sustentabilidade das edificações é uma das preocupações crescentes da atualidade. Para melhorar essa questão, existem algumas certificações ambientais que incentivam as construções sustentáveis utilizando-se de materiais de bom desempenho e tecnologias construtivas que, através do uso de recursos naturais renováveis (radiação solar, ventos, entre outros), possibilitam uma redução do consumo, principalmente de água e energia elétrica, durante toda a vida útil do edifício. A partir de um estudo geral sobre as certificações mais utilizadas, foi definida aquela tecnicamente mais aplicável na construção civil brasileira. Deste modo, por ser nacional e dispor de requisitos em consonância com a realidade da construção no país, chegouse ao Selo Procel Edifica. Com base no projeto de uma edificação residencial multifamiliar, foi realizado o estudo de aplicação do selo em uma Unidade Habitacional, e com as características construtivas iniciais, obteve-se a classificação nível B.
