The research shows that there already are working fathers with the right to an extended paternity leave, such as fathers who are public workers for the Union and the fathers that work for Citizen Companies. Therefore, it is concluded that it is necessary to extend paternity leave due to motives such as the influence the father's presence generates with the first contacts with the child, nurturing affective bonds with it, and creating a healthy environment to the child's development; collaborating with the mother, helping her in tasks for the well-being of the child, that is, not leaving the task of taking care of the children only to the mother; as well as having no inequalities in rights, that both parents can participate in the life of the child since its birth. Hence, there is a bill being processed in the Parliament and Federal Senate to extend paternity leave.Esta monografia tem por objetivo estudar, mediante pesquisa bibliográfica, a possibilidade do aumento da licença-paternidade a todos os pais trabalhadores à luz dos princípios da isonomia e da igualdade. A pesquisa mostra que já existem pais trabalhadores que possuem o direito à licença-paternidade estendida, tais como os pais que são servidores públicos da União e os pais que trabalham para Empresas Cidadãs. Logo, conclui-se que é necessário o aumento da licença-paternidade por motivos como a influência que gera a presença do pai nos primeiros contatos com a criança, desenvolvendo laços afetivos com esta, além de criar um ambiente saudável para o desenvolvimento da criança; a colaboração com a mãe, auxiliando-a em tarefas para o bem-estar da criança, ou seja, não deixar a tarefa de cuidar dos filhos somente para a mãe; bem como para que não haja desigualdades de direitos, que ambos os pais possam participar da vida de seu filho desde o nascimento deste.
