Ao longo dos anos, algumas técnicas cirúrgicas com diferentes tipos de incisões e retalhos foram descritas na literatura. Sendo assim, esse trabalho tem como objetivo descrever, através de uma revisão de literatura, a previsibilidade das técnicas cirúrgicas utilizadas para aumento de coroa clínica, seja estética e/ou funcional. Foram selecionados estudos primários e secundários publicados nos últimos 20 anos (de 2000 até a atualidade), compreendendo artigos internacionais disponíveis em texto completo online. Os dados disponíveis foram coletados através da leitura dos artigos selecionados, seguido do registro das informações e fontes disponíveis no item “Revisão de Literatura”, posteriormente foi realizado o cruzamento das informações obtidas e elaborada as considerações finais do trabalho. Em conclusão, as evidências corroboram que quando bem empregadas e executadas, as técnicas cirúrgicas disponíveis na literatura oferecem resultados favoráveis, restabelecendo saúde, função e estética ao paciente.The removal of excess gingival tissue and increase of the clinical dental crown is extremely important for orthodontic treatments, prosthetic and restorative rehabilitations, in addition to being essential for correcting the aesthetics of the gummy smile. Over the years, some surgical techniques with different types of incisions and flaps have been described in the literature. Therefore, this work aims to describe, through a literature review, the predictability of the surgical techniques used for clinical crown lengthening, whether aesthetic and/or functional. Primary and secondary studies published in the last 20 years (from 2000 to the present) were selected, comprising international articles available in full text online. The available data were collected by reading the selected articles, followed by the registration of information and sources available in the item “Literature Review”, later the information obtained was crossed and the final considerations of the work were elaborated.
