Institutionalized and also measure the knowledge of those responsible for the function. Method: The research was carried out through an application of two questionnaires with closed answers. The first minded professionals with an oral health elderly, the second have directed to an elderly with their patients in hygiene of the bex and the prosthesis. The samples were submitted to a visual evaluation that received a score of 0-3, zero for optimal hygiene and 3 for a bad one. Results: At all stages of the professional cycle 100%, the majority were between 27-39 years 58.3%, 10-15 years studied 58.3%, and most of the sample 91.7. is a question of oral health and care for youth, 66.7% has never been important to the prosthesis. Regarding the cleaning of the same, 100% of the sample is performed, 33.3% do not know if it is the prosthesis during sleep. On the elderly, the age group aged 66-69 years 34.4%. Entretanto a higiene bucal dos pacientes usuários de tais, se encontram precária, principalmente dentro de instituições asilares. Deste modo, este estudo visa avaliar a higienização dos idosos institucionalizados e também medir o conhecimento dos cuidadores responsáveis pela função. Método: A pesquisa foi realizada mediante a aplicação de dois questionários com respostas fechadas. O primeiro se direcionava aos profissionais sobre os cuidados com a saúde bucal do idoso, o segundo se direcionava ao idoso com objetivo de conhecer seus hábitos de higienização da boca e da prótese. As próteses foram submetidas a uma avaliação visual onde receberam nota de 0-3, “0” sendo para ótima higienização e “3” para péssima. Resultados: Segundo o estudo toda a amostra dos profissionais (100%) é formada pelo sexo feminino, a maioria entre 27-39 anos (58,3%), 10-15 anos estudados (58,3%), e a maior parte da amostra (91,7%) recebeu informação de saúde bucal e sobre cuidados com idoso na formação, 66,7% receberam informação pós formação sobre saúde bucal, e 33,3% nunca recebeu informação sobre cuidados com as próteses. No que se diz respeito a limpeza das mesmas, (100%) da amostra respondeu que realiza, (33,3%) não sabem se a prótese é retirada durante o sono. Sobre os idosos, a faixa etária se mantém entre 66-69 anos de idade (34,4%). Destes mais da metade são totalmente edêntulo (62,5%) sendo que a minoria faz uso de prótese (40,6%).
