But many of the adaptations do not have the original essence of the ancient myths, losing identity along their transformation. This way, this work will pursue the development of a character based on the original mythology of the peoples that created the legend of the wendigo, as a way to convey its individuality and unique characteristics to a public of children and teenagers, that has showed itself receptive to works about mythology. For that, it is utilized the Double Diamond methodology and, inside it, the steps to character development created by Souza and Castro in 2014. After research about the creature’s characteristic mythology and folklore, character development techniques are applied, with the intent of generating alternatives to be presented to the target audience. The chosen illustration was the final design of the creature, used in the making of a model sheet of the wendigo, with front, lateral and back views, and three facial expressions.O mito do wendigo tem aparecido com frequência na cultura moderna, em livros, filmes, televisão, quadrinhos e jogos. Mas muitas das adaptações não possuem a essência original dos contos antigos, perdendo identidade conforme vão se transformando. Dessa forma, este trabalho buscará o desenvolvimento de um personagem baseado na mitologia original dos povos que criaram a lenda do wendigo, como forma de transmitir sua individualidade e características únicas a um público infantojuvenil, que tem se mostrado receptivo à trabalhos sobre mitologia. Para isso, é utilizada a metodologia Double Diamond e, dentro dela, as etapas de desenvolvimento de personagem desenvolvidas por Souza e Castro em 2014. Após pesquisa acerca da mitologia e do folclore característicos da criatura, são aplicadas técnicas de desenvolvimento de personagem, com o objetivo de gerar alternativas a serem apresentadas ao público-alvo.
