These case-studies emerge out the experience from the program internship on Social Service by the Reference Center of Social Assistance (CRAS) from Santo Amaro da Imperatriz city in Santa Catarina and extend through both bibliographic and documental research on the policy of social assistance - SUAS and its social protection - especially on the basic social protection. This research whose conclusion highlights the fundamental and undependable use of a good family follow-up at the process of working with families included in PAIF is an important tool to reach the autonomy of the followed-up families.O presente artigo busca apresentar a importância do planejamento de ações no trabalho social com famílias do Sistema Único de Assistência Social (SUAS), no âmbito do Serviço de Proteção e Atendimento Integral à Família (PAIF). Os estudos surgem a partir da experiência de estágio curricular em Serviço Social junto ao Centro de Referência de Assistência Social (CRAS) do município de Santo Amaro de Imperatriz/SC e se estendem através de uma pesquisa bibliográfica e documental acerca da Política de Assistência Social – o SUAS e as proteções sociais – especialmente sobre a proteção social básica.
