The overall goal is to understand this contribution. The study is characterized by exploratory, bibliographical and documentary work, based on the experience of an internship with the Projeto Projeto Vida. Reflects the concept and characterization of drugs; in general, the antidrug policy and Social Service action in this context, high lighting the academic contribution in this process. It is believed that the fields of the profession allow to establish strategic diagnostics and mediations that consolidate new services and actions that guarantee greater and better conditions to promote the social reinsertion of the chemical dependent.RESUMO: o presente artigo reflete o processo de dependência química tendo como problema de estudo como se caracteriza a atuação do Serviço Social junto ao adicto, de modo a contribuir com seu processo de ressocialização e inclusão social? O objetivo geral é compreender tal contribuição. O estudo caracteriza com exploratório, bibliográfico e documental, realizado a partir da experiência de estagio junto a Organização Projeto Vida. Reflete o conceito e caracterização das drogas; em âmbito geral a politica antidrogas e atuação do Serviço Social neste contexto, destacando-se a contribuição acadêmica neste processo.
