To fulfill this objective, an analysis of the application of this power was constructed from the height of the Chinese Empire to the current government of Xi Jinping. Thus, it becomes a necessity to understand the distinction between the two power categories proposed by the theorist Joseph Nye, hard power and soft power, as well as the difference between the western and the chinese conception of the latter. In addition, several elements belonging to China’s soft power rhetoric are presented, such as win-win cooperation, community of common destiny, peacefull rise, among others.A presente pesquisa tem por objetivo investigar como a China utiliza seu soft power para fortalecer a sua imagem internacional. Para cumprir este objetivo, foi construída uma análise da aplicação desse poder desde o apogeu do Império Chinês até o atual governo de Xi Jinping. Assim, faz-se necessário o entendimento da distinção entre as duas categorias de poder propostas pelo teórico Joseph Nye, o hard power e o soft power, bem como a diferença entre a concepção ocidental e a chinesa deste último.
