O abandono de animais sempre existiu, mas ultimamente o tema vem ganhando um espaço significativo entre as pessoas contra a crueldade animal. Situações como essas vem sendo combatidas por protetores de animais dia após dia para alcançar um objetivo único, a extinção dos maus-tratos aos animais, mas esse é um “trabalho de formiguinha”, árduo e lento, e ainda há muito que evoluir em relação a conscientização da população sobre os maus-tratos a animais, pois esta temática especificamente não possui tanto amparo no que diz respeito a políticas públicas, mesmo que hoje em dia tenha a Lei de proteção animal nº 9.605 de 1998. Além do abandono de animais, também pode-se citar a exploração e comercialização de animais de raça, que devido à grande procura, acaba fomentando o mercado pet e gerando a criação de canis clandestinos onde mantem inúmeros animais em condições insalubres, com único e exclusivo proposito de lucrar em cima da vida desses seres indefesos.The objective of this work is the elaboration of a preliminary project for the architecture of a shelter for animals in a situation of abandonment, located in the municipality of Palhoça/SC, which seeks to enable, through its architecture, the reception, dignity and good -being an animal, promoting its (re)insertion into new homes. Animal abandonment has always existed, but lately the topic has been gaining significant space among people against animal cruelty. Situations like these are being fought by animal protectors day after day to achieve a single goal, the extinction of animal abuse, but this is a “little ant job”, arduous and slow, and there is still a lot to evolve in relation to the population's awareness of animal mistreatment, as this issue specifically does not have much support with regard to public policies, even though today it has the Animal Protection Law No. 9,605 of 1998.
