A HDL é uma das maiores causas de dor lombar mundialmente e o seu tratamento inclui a opção conservadora com tratamento fisioterapêutico e seus diversos recursos de reabilitação, como também conta com intervenção cirúrgica em casos mais agravados e que não tiveram resultados significativos no tratamento conservador. O objetivo deste estudo é analisar o efeito do tratamento fisioterapêutico durante os períodos de pré e pós-operatório de pacientes que foi necessário a intervenção cirúrgica. Este estudo se trata de uma revisão narrativa de literatura que aborda artigos encontrados nas seguintes bases de dados: BVS, Scielo, Pubmed e Pedro. Foram pesquisados artigos entre 2013 e 2023 nos idiomas português e inglês. Foi possível observar o efeito positivo do tratamento fisioterapêutico durante o pós-operatório da intervenção cirúrgica de HDL, com exercícios de estabilização lombar e exercícios clínicos de pilates. O efeito da fisioterapia durante o período pré-operatório ainda permanece escasso na literatura e assim necessita de mais estudos na temática.Lumbar Disc Herniation (LDH) occurs when there is a rupture of an intervertebral disc structure, located between the vertebrae of the spine, resulting in an expulsion of the material and generating compression in the nerve root. LDH is one of the biggest causes of low back pain worldwide and its treatment includes the conservative option with physiotherapeutic treatment and its various rehabilitation resources, as well as surgical intervention in more aggravated cases that have not had significant results with conservative treatment. The objective of this study is to analyze the effect of physiotherapeutic treatment during the pre- and post-operative periods of patients who required surgical intervention. This study is a narrative literature review that addresses articles found in the following databases: BVS, Scielo, Pubmed and Pedro. Articles were searched between 2013 and 2023 in Portuguese and English. It was possible to observe the positive effect of physiotherapeutic treatment during the postoperative period of the HDL surgical intervention, with lumbar stabilization exercises and clinical pilates exercises.
