The study is characterized as an descriptive research, with bibliographic and documentary procedures, with data obtained at books, articles, reports, regulations and laws, in a qualitative approach. The data analysis was set in graphs and tables, according to the theoretical basis of the research. It was concluded that the process of deregulation in aviation demanded a lot of work and research by the authorities and a readjustment of the companies, which started to have free competition. It was aconcluded that the deregulation process in Brazil occurred through phases, as well as it ocurred in American deregulation. The research also concludes that advantages deregulation were the opening of the market for new companies, free trade, flexibilization and reduction of rates, private control of aviation and hiring of employees. On the other hand, there have been layoffs due to the closure of unprepared companies and there are still infrastructure problems. In general, the process of deregulation represented a step forward in the aeronautical management model.Esta pesquisa teve por objetivo demonstrar o processo de desregulamentação em suas fases, elencando benefícios e malefícios trazidos por esse processo. O trabalho caracteriza-se como uma pesquisa descritiva, com procedimentos bibliográfico e documental com dados obtidos por meio de livros, artigos, reportagens, regulamentos e leis. A abordagem utilizada foi qualitativa. A análise dos dados ocorreu por meio de gráficos e quadros, analisados de acordo com a fundamentação teórica. Conclui-se que o processo de desregulamentação no Brasil ocorreu por meio de fases, como na desregulamentação americana. A pesquisa conclui ainda que como vantagens as vantagens da desregulamentação foram a abertura do mercado para novas empresas, o livre comércio, a flexibilização e redução de tarifas, o controle privado da aviação e a contratação de funcionários. Em contrapartida, houve demissões por fechamento de empresas despreparadas para a competição mercadológica e ainda se tem problemas de infraestrutura.
