A topic that is very much discussed at the present time, this subject needs to be deepened in the case of digital social networks. The method used was the deductive, monographic type. Of qualitative character, regarding the objectives the research was proposed exploratory and with documental procedure. As an empirical object, the positioning of Internet users about this subject was analyzed, using tweets about the Marielle case and about Maria de Rosário (both admittedly defenders of human rights). Tweets analyzed from the content analysis technique. The results showed how the concept of human rights is misrepresented in the selected tweets and the influences of fake news on this result.Este trabalho teve como objetivo geral, analisar como a utilização da rede social digital Twitter no Brasil, implica na deturpação do conceito de direitos humanos. Tema bastante discutido na atualidade, este tema carece de aprofundamento em se tratando das redes sociais digitais. O método utilizado foi o dedutivo, do tipo monográfico. De caráter qualitativo, quanto aos objetivos a pesquisa se propôs exploratória e com procedimento documental. Como objeto empírico foi analisado o posicionamento dos internautas acerca deste tema, utilizando como evidências, tweets sobre o caso Marielle e sobre a deputada Maria do Rosário (ambas reconhecidamente, defensoras dos direitos humanos). Tweets analisados a partir da técnica de análise de conteúdo.
