This tendency reached peak during the World War One, and became the attack more difficult than the defense. However, as we cannot win wars defensively, it was necessary re-estabilish its offensive character. The solution created by the Allies was the tank, despite that its initials failures, becomes an important factor to the Allie’s victory in the war.O desenvolvimento tecnológico das armas de fogo na segunda metade do século XIX, criou nas guerras uma tendência ao entrincheiramento. Essa tendência atingiu seu ápice durante a Primeira Guerra Mundial, fazendo com que o ataque se tornasse muito mais difícil que a defesa.
