Nesse contexto, o desmame precoce é preocupante, pois pode levar ao aumento da morbimortalidade infantil, levando a um grave problema de saúde pública. Dessa forma, este trabalho tem como objetivo realizar revisão integrativa sobre os benefícios do aleitamento materno para o desenvolvimento da criança nos primeiros meses de vida. Trata-se de uma revisão integrativa de literatura com abordagem qualitativa realizada nas bases de dados online Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO), Biblioteca virtual de Saúde (BVS) e National Library of Medicine (PubMED). Com base em evidências de pesquisas científicas, constatou-se que a amamentação, além da nutrição afeta o sistema imunológico da criança auxilia na saúde física, mental e psicológica tanto da criança quanto da mãe por meio da interação e o vínculo formado durante a amamentação. Percebe-se a importância de sensibilizar as gestantes, desde o pré-natal, sobre a relevância da amamentação para o binômio mãe-filho.Breast milk is a very important food that provides multiple benefits for the health and development of the child and its exclusive use is recommended in the first six months of the individual's life. In this context, early weaning is worrying, as it can lead to increased child morbidity and mortality, leading to a serious public health problem. Thus, this work aims to carry out this integrative review on the benefits of breastfeeding for the development of the child in the first months of life. This is an integrative literature review with a qualitative approach carried out in the online databases Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO), Virtual Health Library (BVS) and National Library of Medicine (PubMED). Based on scientific research evidence, it was found that breastfeeding, in addition to nutrition, affects the child's immune system and helps the physical, mental and psychological health of both the child and the mother through the interaction and bond formed during breastfeeding.
