With a focus on the surgical sector and patient safety, it is essential that the team involved keep in mind that they are dealing with a life, justifying that assistance should be provided in a comprehensive and responsible manner. General Objective: To qualify HRSJ's surgical safety through teamwork, from the safe surgery checklist offered by WHO, with the contributions of the Shell and James Reason Models practiced in aviation to ensure flight safety. Specific Objectives: To identify the technical, human and conceptual specifications of the safe surgery checklist at the theoretical level; propose changes in the safe surgery checklist offered by WHO, based on the contributions offered by the Shell and James Reason models. Method: This is a descriptive, explanatory and analytical research, using a qualitative approach. Results: proposition of the checklist offered by WHO, qualified from the contributions of this study. Conclusion: surgical team professionals can qualify surgical safety by adopting a safe surgery checklist, such as the one standardized by the WHO, qualified by the contributions of this study. Com foco no setor cirúrgico e na segurança do paciente, é imprescindível que a equipe envolvida tenha em mente que está lidando com uma vida, justificando que a assistência deve ser prestada de forma integral e responsável. Objetivo Geral: Qualificar a segurança cirúrgica do HRSJ por meio do trabalho em equipe, a partir do checklist de cirurgia segura oferecido pela OMS, com as contribuições dos Modelos Shell e James Reason praticados na aviação para garantir a segurança do voo. Objetivos Específicos: Identificar no plano teórico as especificações técnicas, humanas e conceituais do checklist de cirurgia segura; propor mudanças no checklist de cirurgia segura oferecido pela OMS, a partir das contribuições oferecidas pelos modelos Shell e James Reason. Método: Trata-se de uma pesquisa de caráter descritivo, explicativo e analítico, utilizando-se abordagem de natureza qualitativa. Resultados: proposição do checklist oferecido pela OMS, qualificado a partir das contribuições deste estudo. Conclusão: os profissionais da equipe cirúrgica podem qualificar a segurança cirúrgica pela adoção de um checklist de cirurgia segura, como o padronizado pela OMS, qualificado pelas contribuições deste estudo.
