Estas passaram a utilizar diferentes formas de ação, por meio de suas políticas comerciais. Entre elas, uma comumente conhecida, que é a proteção aos produtores e fabricantes nacionais, contextualizada pelos estudiosos de "Protecionismo". No Brasil não é diferente, utilizou-se e ainda utilizam-se medidas protecionistas. Assim sendo, este trabalho busca compreender as principais razões para utilização destas, mediante o setor industrial. Para tanto, apresenta-se um pouco sobre o processo de industrialização no Brasil. Contextualizando assim a política comercial dos últimos 10 anos, para entender as ações mais recentes e a posição do governo perante o tema, bem como o panorama atual da indústria no país.
