This article indicates how it is worked in a class of the second year of elementary school of a municipal school in the city of Tubarão. The present study, carried out in conjunction with the stage in the literacy cycle of the pedagogy course, analyzed reading in the classroom, as well as contact with storytelling and several textual genres. Thus, through an action research, some characteristics of the reading routine of these students were observed and, from this analysis, an action plan was created that improved the reading practices of this class.Esse artigo apresenta o resultado de uma pesquisa-ação com foco na temática da leitura. O estudo foi realizado em conjunto com o Estágio no Ciclo de Alfabetização o que possibilitou a identificação de como o ler se fazia presente numa turma de 2º ano de uma escola pública de Tubarão.
