Initially food will be approached in general, bringing to the reader concept of food, characteristics, modalities, moments in which they are claimed, origin, causes of extinction of food obligation, among other important topics presented in this article. In the background and not least, the paper addresses the principles of food obligation, focusing on the principle of reciprocity, in which it will be debated strongly in the main theme of the research. Finally, the work seeks to bring hypotheses of the principle of reciprocity to be relativized in the alimentary obligation between parents and children, in which, it brings cases of destitution of the family power instituted in the family law, cases of indignity of the inheritance right, and material and moral abandonment, which is criminalized in the Criminal Code. Thus, by analogy in legislation, doctrinal understandings and judicial decisions, the work will demonstrate whether it is possible for the principle of reciprocity to be relativized in the food obligationO presente trabalho tem como escopo principal analisar a obrigação alimentar entre pais e filhos, trazendo hipóteses de relativização deste dever alimentar. Inicialmente será abordado alimentos em geral, trazendo para o leitor o conceito de alimento, características, modalidades, momentos em que são reclamados, origem, causas de extinção da obrigação alimentar, entre outros tópicos importantes apresentados neste artigo. Em segundo plano e não menos importante, o trabalho aborda os princípios da obrigação alimentar, trazendo como foco, o principio da reciprocidade, na qual será debatido fortemente no tema principal da pesquisa. Finalmente, o trabalho procurar trazer hipóteses do principio da reciprocidade ser relativizados na obrigação alimentar entre pais e filhos, na qual, traz casos de destituição do poder familiar instituídos no direito de família, casos de indignidade do direito sucessório, e abandono material e moral, que é tipificado como crime no Código Penal.
