Artigo Científico Acesso fechado Caracterização dos nascidos prematuros em Santa Catarina: um estudo epidemiológico(2020) Barcelos, Maria Eduarda Vieira; Barcelos, Natália LapaObjective: To analyze the clinical, social and biological characteristics associated with the mother and premature children in the state of Santa Catarina. Methods: Epidemiological study that used DATASUS as the basis for the research. The sample consisted of premature newborns with a gestational age of less than 37 weeks, born in SC from 2011 to 2018. The relationship made by DATASUS between premature infants and the characteristics provided by the system, both of the mother and the child, was observed. Results: From 2011 to 2018, there were 79,885 premature births; the male gender had a higher prevalence; the most frequent birth weight was 1,500 to 2,499 g; the most found pregnancy was the only one; the most performed type of delivery was cesarean section; the most relevant APGAR results for the 1st and 5th minutes were 8 to 10 points; the number of prenatal consultations 7 or more predominated; the mother's single or married marital status were the most found; the white color / race prevailed; the mother's age from 25 to 29 years was the highest and the macroregion with the highest number of premature births was the Planalto Norte and Nordeste. Conclusion: Prematurity corresponded to 10.71% of general births and 67.28% of deaths in this period in SC. Moderate preterm infants were the most prevalent in all of the previous characteristics, except for neonatal death.
