Monografia Acesso aberto Direitos autorais e a internet na Europa: um estudo sobre as novas diretrizes(2019) Caetano, Lucas MartinelliThe objetive of the present study is to verify how the media and media professionals interpret the consequences of the new directive copyright in Europe. The review of the literature was based on bibliographies and documents from national and international news portals. Methodologically, this piece is a descriptive and qualitative monograph which uses bibliographic and documentary research. The data collected comes from articles published on the EFF and the EURACTIV news sites, once these websites present the perceptions of copyright experts. Among the results, this study has found that copyright is necessary as a means of protection for the holders of such rights, but in contrast, copyright can be used as a means of media manipulation in that it produces the right to censor potentially legitimate works. Information from the new copyright directives in Europe was collected from national and international media, and it can be asserted that, at a national level, the publication was quite shallow if compared to the attention the issue received in Europe and the United States. While in Brazil the media did not demonstrate the actual impacts that could arise from the new directives, on the international level, there was great concern with the conveyance of information to the public. Finally, on the consequences of the new copyright directives in Europe, it can be stated that lobbying in the European Parliament would have been the main agent in the creation of these directives. It seems to be só due to the fact that neither artists not researchers are protected by the new directives, that benefit is reserved to major record labels and "old media" service companies.
