To verify the evolution of the activities of the clinical pharmacy (FC) and pharmacovigilance (FV) servicies, carried out between the years 2009 to 2020 by the Sentinel Hospitals in the Southern region of Brazil, using the indicators created by Soares and Kulkamp (2006). METHODS: This is a field study, carried out in the formo f applying a questionnaire to those responsible for the pharmaceutial services of the 52 Sentinel Hospitals in southern Brazil, with questions related to hospital management and FC and FV services. RESULTS: Of the 52 hospitals recruited for the study, 14 refused to participate and 20 hospitals were excluded by the previously definided criteria, totalizing a final sample of 18 hospitals. Of these, 11 (61,1%) have a specific pharmacist for FC and 10 (55,6%) have a specific pharmacist for FV. As for the position of risk manager, 17 pharmacists reported not being responsible for this position and yet, mosto f them (66,7%), reported that they work with na accumulation of functions. PVF 1, 2, 3.2, 4, 7 and 9.1 remained, in this study, at levels below the line considered ideal, and PVF 3.1, 5, 6, 8, 9.2, 9.3, 9.4 and 9.5 evolved. This shows that the FC and FV services, even though they are essential, they are still not performed in their entirety. CONCLUSION: The FC and FV services have presented a tenuous evolution in the last eleven years. However, there is a need for government offcials, managers and health professionals to get to know the Sentinel Hospitals Program in its entirety, promoting its expansion and ensuring patient safety.
