Artigo Científico Acesso fechado Avaliação dos efeitos da ayahuasca nos parâmetros comportamentais de ratos submetidos ao modelo de neuroinflamação induzida por LPS(2018) Silva, Marina GoulartOBJECTIVES: To evaluate the behavioral response of ayahuasca in Wistar rats submitted to neuroinflammation through the intraperitoneal application of lipopolysaccharide (LPS). METHODS: Induction of neuroinflammation occurred through the intraperitoneal LPS application protocol in rats at about 90 days at a dose of 0,63 mg/kg/ml. 80 animals were divided into control group and LPS group, and later, each group was divided into two subgroups. The prevention subgroup had administration of ayahuasca or saline solution via gavage at a dose of 4 ml/kg one hour prior to the intraperitoneal application of LPS or saline and the treatment subgroup received the same dose of the respective substance 24 hours after intraperitoneal applications. Behavioral parameters were evaluated from the open field test (anxiety), object recognition memory test (learning and memory) and forced swimming test (depression). RESULTS: A trend was observed in decreasing the anxious type behavior of LPS/AYA rats of the subgroup prevention, as well as a significant decrease of such behavior in rats of the subgroup treatment. No relevant differences were found in the memory test. In the evaluation of the depressive behavior of the animals, significant results were obtained in the prevention subgroup, when the groups SAL/SAL, SAL/AYA and LPS/AYA were compared to the group with disease model, as in the groups SAL/SAL and LPS/AYA , when compared to the group submitted to neuroinflammation.. CONCLUSION: The anxiolytic and antidepressant potential of ayahuasca were observed in an animal model of neuroinflammation, possibly due to the antineuroinflammatory effects already reported on the compound.
