Relatório de Estágio Acesso aberto Avaliação da viabilidade de substituição do aditivo tipo longa vida na etapa de fosqueamento alcalino no processo de anodização(2020) Silva, Paulo Sérgio daAnodizing is an electrochemical process in which the surface of metallic aluminum is converted into aluminum oxide. It is carried out by submerging the metal in a variety of chemicals, popularly known as baths. One important process step is the etching, responsible for giving the product a satin aspect. It is composed mainly by caustic soda, which determines the surface finish, leveling the metal surface and removing defects from previous steps as well as residual aluminum oxide (resulting from natural passivation); Additives are added to the solution in order to extend its life, ensuring that there is no formation of aluminum oxide. In addition, by controlling bath’s viscosity, it prevents drag out to subsequent rinsing steps and reduces caustic soda consumption. This study brings a comparison between two longlife additives from different suppliers, aiming at identifying which product has the best performance. To achieve that methodologies and analysis have been used to compare data such as chemical consumption, process capability, end-product quality and operational costs. Test results confirm that the replacement of product A by product B generates cost savings of R$ 280.000,00 per year, increase in production capacity of 56 tones/year and no negative impact in quality.
