| dc.description.abstract | A história das relações internacionais é marcada por grandes acontecimentos no âmbito internacional, em especial no que concerne às guerras. O Tratado de Paz de Westfália, de 1648, termina com a Guerra dos Trinta anos e estabelece o conceito de Estado-nação. A Revolução Francesa, no século XVIII, consolida os princípios democráticos de liberdade, igualdade e fraternidade, este último, podendo ser entendido também como solidariedade. O século XX não foi diferente, as duas Grandes Guerras trouxeram o entendimento à sociedade internacional de que a paz almejada somente seria possível por meio da cooperação entre as nações. A Organização das Nações Unidas nasce, em 1945, a partir desta percepção. Os Direitos Humanos passam a ter papel de destaque nos foros de discussão internacionais e, em 1948, são consagrados os direitos fundamentais do homem por meio da Declaração Universal dos Direitos Humanos. Neste mesmo contexto, de universalização dos direitos essenciais à dignidade da pessoa humana, o Direito Internacional dos Refugiados passa a ter maior relevância, definindo em 1951 a Convenção Relativa ao Estatuto dos Refugiados. Passados mais de cinqüenta anos da elaboração deste diploma, a proteção jurídica internacional da pessoa humana continua, na atual fase contemporânea, como um desafio a ser vencido para a efetiva concretização da paz, objetivo principal das Relações Internacionais | pt_BR |
| dc.description.abstract | The history of international relations is marked by great events in the international arena, particularly in regard to war. The Peace Treaty of Westphalia in 1648, ended with the Thirty Years' War and established the concept of nation-state. The French Revolution in the eighteenth century, consolidated the democratic principles of liberty, equality and fraternity, the last one could also been understood as solidarity. The twentieth century wasn't different, the two World Wars brought understanding to the international society that the desired peace would be possible only through cooperation among the nations. The United Nations was born in 1945, from this perception. Human rights became prominent role on the international discussion forums and, in 1948, the fundamental human rights were devoted by the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. In this same context, the universality of rights essential to human dignity, the International Refugee Law became more relevant, consecrating in 1951 the Refugee Convention.
