An intact joint is a complex of structures that complement each other so that the body can move comfortably. Over the years, joint structures exhibit joint function or movement compromised by aging, and the onset of joint damage may occur as a result of high-impact sports activities performed by the individual. Objective: To analyze the use of pharmacological resources for the prevention and/or treatment of joint problems among practitioners of high-impact exercises at CrossFit academies, in three municipalities in the south of Santa Catarina. Methodology: this is an observational study with a cross-sectional design, with 118 participants. Results: among the 118 CrossFit practitioners; 39.14% (n=34) reported the existence of joint injuries, being more frequent in places such as the knee (37.77%), shoulder (33.33%) and hip (24.44%), of which less than half 44.44% (n=20) used pharmacological resources for the prevention or treatment of injuries, 46.15% of them use Collagen Type II (UC2). 50% of treatments by medical prescription where chondroitin with glucosamine and anti-inflammatories prevailed. It should be noted that studies are needed to prove the efficacy and mechanism of action of type 2 collagen for preventive purposes or even repairing joint damage.
