Introduction: Calcifications are frequently found in the head and neck region and are considered incident findings, observed in radiographic images such as mixed density or radiopaque images. The criterion for diagnosis is based on anatomical position, size, shape, number and distribution. Objective: To determine the prevalence of soft tissue calcifications, 13 excluding calcification of the hyoid-style ligament, by means of panoramic radiographs performed for different dental purposes between men and women. Material and Method: A study of 2,457 radiographs with digital cameras performed in the year 2019 in a private Radiology Clinic in the transversal municipality of Tubarão, Santa Catarina, Brazil. The identification of each radiological image was performed by a student of the Dentistry course, calibrated by an experienced radiology specialist professor. How the images were systematically to better determine the diagnosis. Result: Thus, only 80 (6.0%) soft tissue calcifications were found, of which 3.3% were tonsillitis, 1.7% were sialolites, 0.5% were calcified lymph nodes, 0.4% were carotid atheroma, 0.1% were antrolite. The kappa test showed an intra-examiner agreement of 0.97 (97%). Conclusion: The results obtained in this study show the prevalence of 6% of soft tissue calcifications.
