longo do escoamento. Desta forma, o presente trabalho visa identificar a propensão
Marimbondo e Foz do Chapecó, considerando a utilização do software SpillwayPro
desenvolvido pelo US Bureau of Reclamation (USBR), as características geométricas
Chapecó Energia com participação de Furnas Centrais Elétricas, do Laboratory of
Hydraulic do US Bureau of Reclamation (USBR) e da Universidade Federal do Rio
Grande do Sul (UFRGS) através do Laboratório de Obras Hidráulicas (LOH).
Due to the growing demand for energy generation, the prevention of potential damage to hydraulic surfaces, responsible for the safety of reservoirs and dams, is one of the major concerns of the national electricity sector, as unplanned interruptions generate financial losses and excessive maintenance costs to the system operators. The high turbulence generated by the flow during the operation of safety devices, such as spillways and dissipation basins, ends up favoring the occurrence of damage by the action of the cavitation phenomenon, characterized by flows of high pressure and velocity variations along the flow. In this way, the present work aims to identify the propensity of damage by cavitation in the spillways of the hydroelectric plants of Porto Colombia, Marimbondo and Foz do Chapecó, considering the use of the SpillwayPro software developed by the US Bureau of Reclamation (USBR), the geometric characteristics of the slope surfaces and the discharge maximum flow from each enterprise. The hydraulic parameters verified were the average speeds and the cavitation indexes extracted by the software along the entire concrete surface. The results obtained were then compared to the limits defined in the literature in order to identify the occurrence of the phenomenon in the analyzed spillways. This work forms a follow-up to the Research and Development Project (P&D) entitled: “Concrete Study for Hydraulic Surfaces”, financed by Foz do Chapecó Energia with the participation of Furnas Centrais Elétricas, the Laboratory of Hydraulic of the US Bureau of Reclamation (USBR) and the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS) through the Laboratório de Obras Hidráulicas (LOH).
