Introduction: Myofascial release is a form of manual therapy that has been shown to be effective in gaining range of motion and flexibility in the knee joints when applied directly to the hamstrings without presenting muscle deficit or performance, also providing immediate pain relief and treatment, restrictions that can occur directly in the package. Objective: This study aims to understand in the literature the effect of myofascial release on the range of motion of the hamstrings. Methodology: To carry out this research, the Pubmed, BVS and PEDro databases were used, where articles in Portuguese or English from the last 10 years, between 2013 and 2022, with adults from 18 years of age were selected, of both sexes, athletes and sedentary people. Results: At the end of the study, a total of 29 articles were found, two of which were selected with 5 articles, after which we went through the selection steps: exclusion of duplicates, reading of two titles and reading of two articles in full. Conclusion: In the analyzed studies, myofascial release proved to be efficient to gain range of motion and flexibility of the hamstrings when applied to instrumental self-myofascial release, therefore more effective when applied by a professional and associated with other techniques.
