Metodologia: literature review through searches of scientific articles published in the last 10 years in the Pubmed, BVS and Google academy databases.
bjective: This study aimed to investigate the scientific bases of cryolipolysis efficiency and understand the biochemical and physiological mechanism of the applied techniques and relate the scientific bases investigated with reports of clinical results. Methodology: The methodological strategy defined in this work was a broad literature review through research of scientific articles from the last 6 years (2016-2022) with PubMed, BVS and Google academy databases. Results and conclusion: As practice has shown, cryolipolysis is effective in treating adipose tissue safely, given that adipocytes are destroyed and phagocytosed without signs of changes in the lipid profile and liver dysfunction. It is believed to be a safe, well-tolerated treatment and becomes a great option for people looking for an improvement in body aesthetic health, being a non-invasive alternative for those who no longer want to undergo invasive and high-risk procedures such as liposuction. We conclude that, as it is considered a new procedure, there is a lack of more specific studies and research on the cryolipolysis freezing technique, and that despite this, we managed to obtain results with promising studies that cover the discovery of the technique for localized fat loss and other purposes, such as: skin flaccidity, metabolic improvement, reduction of lipid and liver levels, with promises of being a complete treatment, arousing more and more interest from researchers
