The Hallyu Wave or, in Portuguese, Korean Wave, is a term used to define the rapid expansion of South Korean cultural elements in the world. Those elements range from television series to soap operas, music groups, tourism, films, and beauty products, among others. The purpose of this study is to analyze, from a soft power perspective, how the South Korean government has invested in a rational and premeditated way in the promotion of its cultural businesses, aiming at the country's economic growth and the dissemination of its culture and image throughout the world. Thus, to develop and achieve the objectives initially established in this research, it was used data survey, bibliographical research and documentary research. From the study conducted, based on the progressions of investment and planning by the government in certain sectors of the economy, in addition to the application of the central concepts of the paper, the verified results demonstrate how the South Korean state has been able, increasingly over the last decades, to develop the cultural industry and achieve positive results in return.
