The present article brings in its structure the characterization and analysis of the symptoms of hysterical neurosis, which is part of the variation of neuroses proposed by Freud, through the reading supported by the fluctuating attention of the Freudian cases Anna O. and Dora. It is through hysteria, the source of his elaborations, that Freud founds his theory and proposes a new way of understanding the subject, as well as understanding the elements involved in neurotic manifestations. In order to revisit the first psychoanalytic concepts, reinforcing their history and importance, the research demonstrates their relevance by articulating the body and psychoanalysis. The general objective of this article is to characterize the bodily manifestations of suffering that present themselves as a symptom in the hysterical structure in the Anna O. and Dora cases of Freud. This is a qualitative research, with exploratory and bibliographic objective in relation to the theory about hysteria. As explained in this article, the concept of hysteria has changed throughout history, being addressed for many years as an organic disease related to the uterus, thus a disease of women, whose explanation for the bodily symptoms was unexplained. Also, the context and life story, both of Anna and Dora, are important factors for understanding the hysterical symptoms manifested in each one, because even if they have the same disease, the manifestations and symptoms are different.
